CVs of Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dhoni and Inzamam sent from spam emails to BCCI for national selectors’ posts

More than 600 e-mail applications have been received for the five-member selection committee.

After India’s semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup 2022 last month, the BCCI sacked the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee. In fact, fresh applications were invited and a new selection panel is set to be appointed soon.

For the high-profile positions, the board officials were shocked to find applications from Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag. Moreover, there was former Pakistan skipper Inzamam ul Haq also offering his candidature for the job.

According to a PTI report, all these CVs were posted using spam email ids from imposters with the intention of having some fun at BCCI's expense.

More than 600 e-mail applications have been received for the five-member selection committee and some of them have come from fake ids claiming to be Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag and Inzamam, the report further stated.

On a serious note, the Cricket Advisory Committee is likely to pick out 10 names for the high-profile posts.

"Around 600 applications have been received and some of them have come from fake ids claiming to be Dhoni, Sehwag and Tendulkar. They are simply wasting BCCI's time by doing that.

"The CAC will shortlist 10 candidates and then choose the final five. The process will be completed soon," a BCCI source told PTI.

The board might have dismissed the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel but the committee continues to remain in operation with their successors not finalised yet.

Releasing a fresh central contract was on the agenda at the BCCI Apex Council meeting on December 21 but it couldn’t be cleared since the selection panel is yet to be formed and its input is needed before the list is finalised.

The Cricket Advisory Committee, featuring Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe and Sulakshna Naik, is expected to meet soon to complete the job.
