ICC announced the winners on December 12, 2022.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (December 12) unveiled the ICC Player of the Month award winners for the month of November 2022 in both men’s and women’s category.
England's 2022 T20 World Cup-winning captain Jos Buttler was crowned the ICC Men's Player of the Month for November 2022 for the first time while Pakistan Women’s star opener Sidra Ameen was named the ICC Women's Player of the Month.
Buttler, who is one of the destructive batters in white-ball cricket in the world, beat Adil Rashid and Shaheen Shah Afridi to win the ICC Player of the Month award for his brilliant performance in the crunch semi-final match against India and leading England to their first T20 World Cup title since 2010.
England opener smashed 73 from 47 balls against New Zealand, and then 80 from 49 balls, as well stitched unbeaten 170-run partnership with Alex Hales during England’s victory in the semi-final against India before making a valuable 26 in the final against Pakistan to guide the side to T20 World Cup title.
Jos Buttler said on the honour, “I want to thank the fans for voting for me as the ICC Player of the Month for November. This award is down to the efforts of my teammates in what was the most incredible month of cricket, culminating in winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.”
He added, “It is right up there amongst the best months of cricket I’ve been involved in, and it was pretty special to lead a group of players to the ultimate accolade of becoming world champions.”
Meanwhile, Sidra Ameen beat Ireland’s Gaby Lewis and Thailand’s Natthakan Chantam to win the ICC Women's Player of the Month for her outstanding performance against Ireland in the ODI series, where she amassed 277 runs in three matches at home. She became the second Pakistani cricketer after Mohammad Rizwan (September) to win this award.
Ameen said after winning the award, “I feel great to have won this award. It is also special following my teammate Nida Dar who won the award for October. This shows our team has displayed some great performances in the past few months in international cricket. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents and to everyone who has always supported me and prayed for my success.”
She signed off by saying, “My performance with the bat against Ireland which helped the side claim the sweep over Ireland in the ODI series at home will always remain close to my heart. Individually, this year has been great for me, I have scored three ODIs centuries and all coming this year. And to top it off, ending the year by winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for November is just amazing.”
