The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, promised that a 'new cricket' will be seen in the second Test in Multan after England beat the hosts by 74 runs in the opening clash at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan had conceded 657 and 264/7d to England, who created a record by scoring 509 runs on the first day of the Test itself.

The Babar Azam-led side then replied by making 579 themselves and after being set a 343-run target, began the fifth and final day on 80-2 after being set a 343-run winning target, but Ollie Robinson and James Anderson each claimed four wickets to put an end to the home team's hopes.

However, Ramiz Raja has high hopes for the Pakistan team despite England’s aggressive brand of cricket. He also praised England coach Brendon McCullum, under whose guidance, new captain Ben Stokes had led the team with freedom and only thinking of winning matches.

With a new, aggressive approach, the pair defeated South Africa, New Zealand, and India in six of their seven Test matches.

"Pakistan team will compete against England in Multan. A new cricket will be seen in Multan. The approach of the England team changed with the arrival of Brendon McCullum. The credit for the English team's win goes to the coach,” Ramiz said during a ceremony at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad.

The two sides will take on each other in the second Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium from 9-13 December.
