Tamil Nadu and their batter N Jagadeesan had an amazing day out in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 50-over tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on November 21, 2022.

After being invited to bat first by Arunachal Pradesh captain Kamsha Yangfo, Tamil Nadu openers Sai Sudharshan and Jagadeesan went after the bowling from ball one of the match and hapless AP bowlers just couldn’t do anything.

Jagadeesan carried off his good form to break many List A records in this match. He had scored 4 centuries in four matches before this match and added another one to his kitty, becoming the first player to hit five consecutive centuries in List-A cricket.

He went past the record of 4 tons set by Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa's Alviro Petersen, and Karnataka's Devdutt Padikkal.

He also broke the record of Virat Kohli, Padikkal, Prithvi Shaw, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had hit 4 centuries in a single edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, by hitting his 5th century in the ongoing edition.

Before this, he had made an unbeaten 114 against Andhra, 107 against Chhattisgarh, 168 against Goa, and 128 against Haryana.

B Sai Sudharshan hit 154 runs in 102 balls with 19 fours and 2 sixes and added 416 runs for the first wicket with Jagadeesan, which became a world record in List-A cricket, beating the record of 372 runs set by Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels in the 2015 World Cup.

Then Jagadeesan carried on to hammering the AP bowlers as he hit the second double-century of this tournament and went on to break the record of the highest List-A score by an Indian, held by Rohit Sharma, who had made 264 against Sri Lanka.

And then broke Alistair Brown’s long-standing record of 268 runs which came for Surrey against Glamorgan in 2002.

Eventually, Jagadeesan finished on 277 runs in 141 balls with 25 fours and 15 sixes to his name and had a very real chance to hit a triple ton as there were 8 overs remaining when he got out.

After individual glories, Tamil Nadu broke the record for the highest team total in List-A cricket of 498/4 set by England against the Netherlands and became the first team to cross the 500-run mark, finishing with 506/2 in 50 overs.
