The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Monday, November 7, 2022, revealed the winner of the Player of the Month for October 2022 and India’s Virat Kohli has emerged as the winner beating out competition from Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza and South Africa's David Miller.

The 33-year-old former India captain batted in only four innings in October but he churned out three memorable knocks, including a magical 82* against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 opening match for India.

India looked down and out when Pakistan reduced them to 31/4 while chasing 160, but Virat Kohli kept the Men in Blue in the game and finally scored 82* in 53 balls to guide India home on the last ball with 4 wickets in hand.

Kohli also went on to admit during the post-match interview that it was the best knock of his T20I career.

It is a great honor for me to have been voted the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October. Being chosen as the standout player by fans across the globe as well as the panel makes this accolade even more special for me.

I want to pay tribute to the other nominees who performed so well during the month and also to my teammates, who continue to support me to perform to the best of my ability,” Kohli said after winning the award.

Apart from this amazing inning, Kohli also scored 49* in 28 balls against South Africa in Gwalior and his good run of form also included 62 from 44 deliveries against Netherlands in the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli is the highest run-getter in the T20 World Cup 2022 so far with 246 runs to his name and this has helped India reach the semi-final of the tournament. India will take on England in the second semi-final in Adelaide on November 10.
