Former India captain Virat Kohli has returned to form with the bat since the Asia Cup and has lighted the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on fire becoming the highest run-getter at this time with 246 runs in 5 innings with 3 half-centuries to his name.

His runs have come at a strike rate of 138.98 and an average of 123.00 and the best knock of his came against arch-rival Pakistan in India’s tournament opener in MCG when he struck 82* and took the Men in Blue to win with 28 required off the last 8 balls.

Earlier, Kohli had ended a barren run of centuries, hitting his 71st ton and first T20I century- 122* against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022.

He had recently revealed that the only person who reached out to him during his rough phase was MS Dhoni.

The only person who genuinely reached out to me was MS Dhoni. For me, that is such a blessing to know that I could have a such a strong bond and relationship with someone who is so senior to me. It’s more like a friendship based on a lot of mutual respect, and that’s one of the things he mentioned in the same message reaching out to me. It was, ‘when you are expected to be strong and looked at as a strong individual, people forget to ask you how you are doing’,” Kohli revealed in a podcast recorded for his IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore.

T20 World Cup 2022: “Just wanted to ensure that he also gets some game time,” - Dravid on Pant’s inclusion against Zimbabwe

It hit home to me. I was like, ‘this is it’. I have always been looked at like someone who is very confident, very mentally strong, who can endure any situation and circumstance, find a way and show us the way. Sometimes, what you realise is that at any given time, you really need to take a couple of steps back and understand how you are doing, how your well-being is,” Kohli further said.

Kohli will next be seen in action when India plays England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup in Adelaide on November 10.
