The RPS group, which owns the IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has named their mentor, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir as the global mentor of the Super Giant family. Under the mentorship of Gambhir, LSG made it into the playoffs of the IPL 2022 on its debut.

The RPS group recently acquired the Durban franchise in the newly minted domestic T20 league in South Africa- SA20 and named it the Durban Super Giants (DSG). Gambhir will now assume additional responsibility for mentoring this team as well.

Gambhir is one of the sharpest cricketing minds going around. He was a part of India's T20 World Cup winning squad in 2007 and the 50-over World Cup winning squad in 2011. In the finals of both tournaments, the left-handed Gambhir played a big role.

Roger Binny speculated to be the next BCCI President after his name appears on Draft Electoral Rolls for elections- Report

He also won the IPL twice in 2012 and 2014 as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and captained the Delhi franchise twice as well.

Gautam Gambhir said in an official release:In my ideology of a team sport designations don’t play much role. At best they are there to facilitate a process to make a team win. As a global mentor of Super Giants, I look forward to some added responsibility. My intensity and passion to win have just got international wings. It will be a proud moment to see Super Giants family leave a global imprint. I thank the Super Giants family for showing the faith in me. Guess it’s time for some more sleepless nights.”
