SMAT 2022 is slated to get underway on October 11.
Veteran pacer Ishant Sharma has been named in the Delhi squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022, which begins on October 11. The tall pacer has been out of contention for the Indian team in the recent past.
Ishant last played a Test in 2021 against New Zealand in Kanpur where although he was economical but couldn’t take a wicket. The Delhi side will be led by Kolkata Knight Riders star batter Nitish Rana and features many other IPL stars on their roster.
The team will include players from the IPL 2022 who have made a mark for their respective franchises: Navdeep Saini, Anuj Rawat, Simarjeet Singh, Ayush Badoni, Mayank Yadav, Hrithik Shokeen, and Lalit Yadav.

Rajan Manchanda, joint secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), expressed his confidence in Rana's leadership while speaking with PTI.
"The president and secretary has full faith in our senior players and Nitish is one of them. We are confident that the team will do well under his leadership," said Manchanda.
