Indian Sapphires faced English Reds in the sixth match of the Global Power Cricket League (GPCL) T20 at Yamuna Sports Complex Cricket Ground in Delhi on Tuesday (October 4).

The two teams were led by former international cricketers Munaf Patel and Ian Bell. English Reds skipper Bell won the toss and opted to bat first.

On the back of Adil Ali’s unbeaten half-century (61* off 53 balls), English Reds posted 138/5 in their 20 overs. Amrit Basra also played a handy knock of 25-ball 33.

Ankit Chaudhary starred with the ball for the Indian Sapphires, picking three wickets by conceding 29 runs in his four overs.

In reply, the Munaf Patel-led side overhauled the target with five wickets in hand and as many deliveries to spare. Gaurav Tomar (41 off 22 balls) was the main architect behind the chase while Shivam Singh (44 off 44 balls) and Deepanshu Phore (39* off 27 balls) made valuable contributions.

For English Reds, Tommy Rex was the stand-out bowler as he returned with three scalps and gave away only 18 runs in his quota of four overs.

Brief Scores:

English Reds – 138/5 in 20 overs (Adil Ali 61*; Ankit Chaudhary 3-29) lost to Indian Sapphires – 139/5 in 19.1 overs (Gaurav Tomar 41; Shivam Singh 44; Tommy Rex 3-18) by five wickets
