The inaugural edition of Global Power Cricket League (GPCL) is around the corner and the participating teams have started unveiling their squad for the T20 tournament.

One of the eight teams featuring in the competition is from Scotland, going by the name of Scottish Mulberries.

They recently revealed their 14-member squad, which includes Kirk Edwards as captain. Edwards represented West Indies in 17 Tests and 16 ODIs, scoring over 1300 runs across formats. In T20 cricket, Edwards has scored 203 runs in 19 matches with the highest score of 45.

Since the GPCL organisers have made it mandatory for every team to include players of Indian origin in their line-up and the average age of the side shouldn’t go beyond 25 years, Scottish Mulberries have picked their squad accordingly.

The squad also includes a host of Indian origin cricketers like Aayush Dasmahapatra, Moneeb Iqbal, Asad Khan, Haroon Tahir, Abdul Sabri, among others.

The Indian origin players are still new to the circuit and have little or no experience of playing high-octane T20 leagues. Playing under the leadership of Kirk Edwards will certainly enhance their confidence and overall game.

The GPCL T20 will be broadcasted worldwide, thus, it is also a perfect platform for the Indian diaspora global youth cricketers to showcase their T20 prowess, which will ultimately open doors of opportunity for them.

For the inaugural edition of GPCL, slated to be held in Delhi from October 2 to October 9, Scottish Mulberries are slotted in Pool A alongside Indian Sapphires, English Reds and American Indigos.

Scottish Mulberries will open their campaign against English Reds on October 3.
