The inaugural edition of GPCL is set to be held in India next month.
The USP of the tournament is that eight teams from different nationalities having distinct cultures and dialects will take part in it, giving the fans a unique experience of watching the game.
GPCL is the initiative of Power Sportz, India's first live digital Sports channel, aspiring to cater to the cricket loving Indian diaspora population yearns to have the sport played in their country of stay.
While the inaugural edition of GPCL will be held in Delhi from October 2 to October 9, the T20 event will move to Middle East, USA, Canada, UK, and South Africa in the coming years.
For the first season, the organisers have signed Australia’s Chloe Amanda Bailey as the main anchor. She will be hosting the pre-match and post-match shows apart from interviewing the cricketers.
Notably, Chloe is quite popular among the Indian cricket fans. She has expressed her love for India and the Men in Blue numerous times on Twitter.
In fact, it was Chloe’s long desire to visit India and the GPCL has now provided her a perfect platform to leave a lasting impression on the Indian audience.
Speaking to Ms. Kanthi D. Suresh, Editor-in-Chief of Power Sportz, Chloe Amanda Bailey shared her feelings on being associated with the GPCL.
“I am so excited to be part of GPCL. It will be my first visit to India. I absolutely love the Indians and their passion for the game,” Chloe said.
Talking about GPCL T20, the eight teams featuring in the tournament are – Indian Sapphires, Australian Golds, English Reds, American Indigos, Irish Olives, Scottish Mulberries, South African Emeralds, and Sri Lankan Violets.
Each team has some marquee international cricketers in its ranks. While the Indian Sapphires have signed Munaf Patel, Yusuf Pathan and Gulbadin Naib, Australian Golds have bought Callum Ferguson.
English Reds have roped in the legendary Ian Bell as captain whereas Chadd Sayers, Shaminda Eranga, Lahiru Thirimanne, Robert Frylinck, Narsingh Deonarine, Dilshan Munaweera, and Kirk Edwards are the other notable names in the players’ roster.
