Babar scored his second T20I ton and added 203* runs with Rizwan as Pakistan beat England by 10 wickets.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam led Pakistan's brutal chase of the 200-run target against England in the 2nd T20I on 22 sept, 2022, with three balls to spare and without the loss of a single wicket. The duo added 203* runs for the opening wicket, creating a record.
Babar's 110* in 6 balls and Rizwan made 88* in 51 balls, as their record opening partnership is seen as a befitting reply to all the critics who were blaming the duo for their slow batting at the top and their strike rates.
Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi rejoiced in the brutal victory of Pakistan over England and has taken a veiled jibe at the critics of Babar and Rizwan by posting on Twitter. He sarcastically said that it is the rife time to get rid of Babar and Rizwan because they couldn't finish the match in 15 overs.
"I think it is time to get rid of Kaptaan (Captain) Babar Azam and . Itne selfish players. Agar sahi se khelte to match 15 overs me finish hojana chahye tha. Ye akhri over tak le gaye. Let's make this a movement. Nahi? (Such selfish players. Had they played properly, match would have finished in 15 overs. They took it to the last over). Absolutely proud of this amazing Pakistani team," Shaheen Afridi added.
England had won the 1st T20I against Pakistan. The third match of the 7-match series is going to be held on 23rd Sept, 2022.
