Australian Golds will open their GPCL campaign against Irish Olives on October 3.
One of the eight teams featuring in the competition is from Australia, going by the name of Australian Golds.
Since the GPCL organisers have made it mandatory for every team to include players of Indian origin in their line-up and the average age of the side shouldn’t go beyond 25 years, Australian Golds have picked their squad accordingly.

The 14-member squad includes Callum Ferguson as captain. Ferguson represented Australia in one Test, 30 ODIs and three T20Is, scoring almost 700 runs across formats.
In T20 cricket, Ferguson has 3217 runs to his name in 147 matches at a strike rate of 124.83, including two hundreds and 15 half-centuries.
The Australian Golds squad features some more international players such as Chadd Sayers, Shaminda Eranga, Lahiru Thirimanne and Mahela Udawatte. All of them have represented their country at the highest level.
Chadd Sayers has played one Test for Australia whereas Eranga (19 Tests, 19 ODIs and 3 T20Is), Thirimanne (44 Tests, 127 ODIs and 26 T20Is) and Udawatte (2 Tests, 9 ODIs and 8 T20Is) have turned up for Sri Lanka in all three formats.
The squad has a host of Indian origin cricketers like Rahul Bhandari, Rajith Premachandra, Gursewak Singh, Shivek Roshan Jayprakash and Jagdish Chand Aggarwal.
The Indian origin players are still new to the circuit and have little or no experience of playing high-octane T20 leagues. Sharing the dressing room with international stars will certainly enhance their confidence and overall game.
The GPCL T20 will be broadcasted worldwide, thus, it is also a perfect platform for the Indian diaspora global youth cricketers to display their T20 prowess, which will ultimately open doors of opportunity for them.
For the inaugural edition of GPCL, slated to be held in Delhi from October 2 to October 9, Australian Golds are slotted in Pool B alongside South African Emeralds, Sri Lankan Violets and Irish Olives.
Australian Golds will open their campaign against Irish Olives on October 3.
