Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed seems to be unimpressed with the hype around Arshdeep Singh, as he made some scathing remarks about India’s young pacer a few days after BCCI included him in the India squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Notably, it has been a remarkable journey for Arshdeep for the past few months, as he has been regularly getting a chance in India’s XI in T20Is following his impressive season with PBKS in the IPL 2022. He was also part of India’s squad in the Asia Cup 2022, where he made a significant impact.

However, a dropped catch against Pakistan led many to criticize the left-arm pacer, but he eventually found a place in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, starting on October 16.

Well, many have been lauding Arshdeep for his bowling, especially in the death overs, including the legendary Wasim Akram, but Aaqib Javed claimed that the 23-year-old pacer is just a basic bowler and the opposition doesn't even think of him as a threat, as he doesn't really have a trademark.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Aaqib Javed told Sports Paktv: “He's just a basic bowler. In T20s, you either need a bowler like Bhuvneshwar Kumar who can swing, or you should have pace. Or, you should be tall enough to throw in those bouncers. You need to have a trademark. When you see the bowlers around the world, you notice that.”

He added, “For example, Bumrah just darts in the yorkers with perfection. Hardik Pandya's bouncers are quite lethal. Shaheen has a great swing and Haris has great pace. So, Arshdeep is.. just like any other bowler. He doesn't really have a trademark. The opposition doesn't even think about bowlers like him.”
