Virat Kohli hosted the charity event before the India-Sri Lanka tie in CT 2017.
Former RCB owner Vijay Mallya was seen in attendance during
the Virat Kohli Charity Ball in London.
Mallya is a wanted criminal in India, for defaulting on loans
of over Rs. 9000 crores and has been declared an absconder in India. He was
arrested by the Scotland Yard police and is currently out on bail, as India works
with the UK government to extradite him to India.
This charity ball was hosted by the Virat Kohli foundation
and Kohli said, “We set it up quite a
while back but to get it rolling it was very important that we start raising
funds in a big way. My vision was to provide for the underprivileged kids.â€
Mallya was also present during the India-Pakistan encounter
on Sunday and was seen mingling with former India captain Sunil Gavaskar. According
to Britain's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the hearing on the issue of
Mallya's extradition from the UK has been deferred to June 13.
He tweeted the following message:
Wide sensational media coverage on my attendance at the IND v PAK match at Edgbaston. I intend to attend all games to cheer the India team.
