Indian cricket has produced a lot of legends over the years whom the young breed can follow and take inspiration from, and Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag are some of the names which come to mind.

Well, former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif has made an interesting observation among the current crop of the Indian cricket team when it comes to following the footsteps of their legendary cricketers.

He claimed that some of the current Indian cricketers are not following the likes of Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who would take their time to go after the bowlers, but they are fans of MS Dhoni.

He cited the example of Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav who likes to play like Dhoni.

Rashid Latif said on his official YouTube channel: “The game has changed. There was a time when players used to follow Tendulkar, Sehwag, and Virat Kohli even. They would want to break their records. But in this team, there are 3-4 players who don’t follow their breed. Yes, there’s respect, but they follow MS Dhoni. Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, even Deepak Hooda plays like him.”

He signed off by saying, “From Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar, players are now following MS Dhoni. The way he played and the way he used to take on the game. The top-3 may not be at their best but the next three are really firing down the order. Suryakumar Yadav is not getting the opportunity at no.3 but he can perform at any number.”
