Australia’s destructive batter Chris Lynn is all set to feature in both the upcoming 12th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL 12) and the UAE’s inaugural International League T20 (ILT20) after signing a ground-breaking deal with Cricket Australia (CA).

The leading run-scorer in BBL history will miss a few matches in both leagues—BBL and ILT20—as the BBL 2022-23 will run from December 13 to February 4, while ILT20 will start on January 6.

Well, CA agreed to issue the 32-year-old a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the ILT20 after he signed an 11-match deal with the Adelaide Strikers on Thursday (August 25) for the upcoming BBL 12.

Lynn will be released on January 20 and will then take part in the UAE’s ILT20. However, he will miss a few matches for the Gulf Giants, as the tournament will get underway on January 6. Lynn was recently announced as one of 21 marquee players signed for the ILT20.

A CA spokesperson stated: “Cricket Australia welcomes the Adelaide Strikers’ signing of Chris Lynn, the highest run-scorer in KFC BBL history, for 11 out of 14 games in the upcoming KFC BBL|12 season. He will be released from 20 January to participate in UAE’s ILT20 competition from that date.”

He further added, “Lynn does not hold a CA or State contract and has not done so since his last Queensland Cricket contract expired in June 2019. Each matter regarding a release for overseas competitions is subject to the individual’s circumstances.”

The spokesperson concluded, “Our guiding principle remains the prioritization and protection of Australia’s domestic summer of cricket and the interests of the game overall.”
