Gautam Gambhir to play in second edition of Legends League cricket

Gambhir to play for Indian Maharajas side in the LLC T20.

India’s 2011 World Cup win hero Gautam Gambhir has been announced as the latest addition to the second edition of the Legends League Cricket T20 tournament which gets underway on September 17.

Gautam Gambhir, who is a member of the Lok Sabha, is all set to play for the India Maharajas side. Gambhir added he will be available in action from September 17, a day after the special match between India Maharajas and World Giants.

Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will lead the Maharajas in the special match against Eoin Morgan-led Giants as the Legends League Cricket celebrates 75 years of India's Independence at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

"I am glad to share that I have committed to take part in the upcoming Legends League Cricket from September 17th onwards. I am excited in anticipation of being on a cricket field once again. It will be a privilege and an honor to rub shoulders once again with the glitterati of world cricket," Gambhir said in an official release.

Raman Raheja, Co-Founder, and CEO, of Legends League Cricket, said, "Who will ever forget Gautam's match, winning 97 runs in the 2011 World Cup Finals?" I am sure fans will be expecting to experience the same nerve-chilling performance from Gautam and other iconic players in Season 2."

Gambhir played from 2003-2016 for India making 4154 runs in 58 Tests, 5328 runs in 147 ODIs and 932 runs in 37 T20I matches with a cumulative 20 centuries. He also captained India in 6 ODI matches, winning all of them.

Apart from this, Gambhir captained Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, winning the tournament twice with KKR. He currently serves as the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants franchise.
