Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Albie Morkel and current player Dwaine Pretorius welcomed the franchise to South Africa and thanked the franchise owners for investing in the upcoming T20 league in the country.

Even though it hasn’t started yet, South African T20 league has already made headlines. The league gained the limelight when the national side pulled out of their ODI tour to Australia for the tournament and then recently the league also invited many bidders.

In what was a staggering development, owners of six Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have bought teams in the South Africa T20 league. Among those, fans’ favourite CSK also invested in the tournament as they bought a franchise from Johannesburg.

This is the first time when the owners of CSK have invested in the overseas franchise. Like their main team, it is expected that they would build a strong team as they did in the IPL and clinch as many titles as they can.

Speaking in a video posted on CSK’s official Twitter account, Albie Morkel, who represented CSK between 2008-2013, thanked the franchise for investing in the South African T20 league. He said that he can’t wait to see the team roaring.

“To the owners, well done on a successful bid. I can't wait to follow the progress. To all the CSK fans, I can't wait to see the team roaring in South Africa next year. All the best!” Albie Morkel said.

Dwaine Pretorius, who is currently a part of CSK, said that the franchise purchasing the Johannesburg team is going to be exciting. He added that it’ll be fun having CSK as a part of the South African league.

“Just want to welcome CSK to the South African cricket family, purchasing the Johannesburg franchise. It's going to be very exciting. I'm sure there will be lot of fans supporting the team. It's fun to have CSK being a part of the South African league. I'm sure all the fans will be with us,” Dwaine Pretorius said.
