ZIM v IND 2022: Zimbabwe confirms ODI series against India in August as part of ICC Super League

Last time Zimbabwe hosted India was in 2016.

The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed on Tuesday evening that the upcoming three-ODI series against India at home which will be played in August will be part of the ongoing ODI Super League.

Zimbabwe announced their schedule of home series against Bangladesh and India in August before they travel to Australia for a historic series. Zimbabwe will play three ODIs against India starting August 18 and the series will end on Monday, August 22.

All three matches will take place in Harare. The series will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup ODI Super League, which is the main route for direct qualification for the showpiece event next year in India.

The last time Zimbabwe faced India was back in 2016 which featured a young side under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. India had won the ODIs 3-0 and T20Is 2-1.

The top eight teams including the hosts India will qualify for the World Cup according to the standing by May 2023, which is the cut-off date while two more teams will be determined through qualifiers.

India’s only remaining series which is part of the Super League will be against New Zealand in November following the T20 World Cup 2022.

"The series against India is part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, a 13-team competition serving as the main route for direct qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 to be staged in India," a Zimbabwe Cricket release said.
