VVS Laxman set to travel to Zimbabwe with the second-string Indian team: Report

VVS Laxman, the Director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), is likely to travel again with the Indian cricket team to Zimbabwe, with Rahul Dravid coaching the full-strength team in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2022.

Laxman most recently served as Team India's head coach during the Ireland tour while Dravid was in England for the rescheduled Test and most recently in the first T20I against England on July 7 when the latter was rested. He was also a coach for the two practice matches against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire.

Apart from Dravid, senior players like Virat Kohli, Ravindran Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer were rested for the first T20I against England. However, they all rejoined the side ahead of the second T20I against England to be played on Saturday (July 9).

Meanwhile, as per reports Zimbabwe will be hosting India in a three-match ODI series to be played in Harare on August 18, 20, and 22. It will be India’s first tour of Zimbabwe in the past 6 years.

Well, for this Zimbabwe tour, ANI reported that Laxman will be the coach of the second-string team, as Team India is scheduled to leave for Asia Cup 2022 at the same time with Dravid.

India will have yet another new captain for the Zimbabwe tour, as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are likely to be on Sri Lanka tour for the Asia Cup 2022.
