After a proposal for a four-nation series didn’t get any positive response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is working on a project to host a three-nation T20I series with Australia and England annually.

According to the reports, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja will propose the idea of an annual three-nation T20 series between Australia, Pakistan and England at the ICC meetings scheduled to be held in Birmingham during the Commonwealth Games.

He will ask for the window for the three-nation T20I series in the new Future Tours Program of the ICC, which runs from 2023 to 2027.

A source close to the PCB and Raja revealed:The PCB is working on the plan and it is an alternate to the four-nation annual event which was proposed by Ramiz at the last ICC meeting and which didn't get the required support from other members and has been shelved.”

Considering the political and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and India, the PCB has now dropped the idea of a four-nation series, and they are now looking to host a tri-nation series with Australia and England.

According to the source, Ramiz received positive responses from the ECB and CA for the tri-nation series and hoped that the BCCI would not object.

The source concluded, “The logistics and ways to find a short window for the tri-series will be worked out soon and Ramiz feels it can be done on an annual basis. Ramiz has good personal relations with BCCI chief Saurav Ganguly and other board heads and he is quietly confident the tri-series plan can be executed by next year. Ramiz firmly believes that bilateral series don't appear to have a very bright future in the new FTP.”
