One of the most successful coaches in domestic cricket, Chandrakant Pandit, has recently fulfilled his dream of winning the Ranji Trophy for Madhya Pradesh. It was Pandit’s dream to win the Ranji Trophy as a captain with Madhya Pradesh, but he went on to win the coveted trophy as a coach recently.

Recently, Madhya Pradesh crushed domestic giants Mumbai in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2022 to win their maiden Ranji Trophy title, and Pandit played a key role in helping his side win the trophy.

Notably, Pandit has already guided Mumbai to three titles, Vidarbha to two, and now helped Madhya Pradesh to secure its maiden title.

However, despite being such a successful coach, Pandit has never been associated with any IPL franchise, despite the fact that he can easily get the job with any of the 10 teams.

Explaining why he hasn’t yet been associated with any IPL teams, the coach said that he is not interested in working under any foreign coach. And that’s why he turned down an opportunity with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2012 when he had a meeting with Shah Rukh regarding the coaching role.

Chandrakant Pandit told PTI: “Agar phone karunga, toh kuch mil jayega par who mera style kabi thaa nahi (If I call (any IPL teams), I will get something but that's not my style).”

Speaking about his meeting with KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan back in 2012, he noted: “I met Mr Shah Rukh Khan back then but somehow I couldn't bring myself to work under a foreign coach.”

Pandit signed off by saying on wining the trophy with MP, “Every trophy gives satisfaction but this one is special. I couldn't do it as an MP captain years back (23 years). All these years, I have always felt that I had left something back over here. That's the reason I am a bit more excited and emotional about it.”
