Pakistan batter Ahmad Shahzad made some shocking revelations while making a strong statement against the senior Pakistani cricketers, as he blamed former coach, Waqar Younis, for ruining his career.

Shahzad made his debut for Pakistan at the age of 17 in 2009. However, he was dropped from the Test and ODI squads after a few outings in 2016. Notably, the batter hasn’t played for Pakistan since 2019.

Shahzad revealed that he was dropped from the team citing fitness issues without showing his reports to him and that he wasn’t allowed to present his side of the story. The right-handed batter claimed his career was severely affected because of Younis, who presented the PCB with a report saying that he needed to return to the domestic circuit and work on his game to play for the Pakistan team.

Ahmad Shahzad told Cricket Pakistan:I have not seen the report myself, but a PCB official told me that these remarks have been said regarding me. But I believe that these things should be discussed face-to-face, and I am ready to take on that challenge. Then we will see who is right and who is wrong.”

He added, “Their words hurt my career, especially since I was not allowed to present my case. This was a pre-planned approach, and they wanted to kill two birds with one stone.”

Meanwhile, Shahzad said that Virat Kohli’s career prospered because he found a mentor like MS Dhoni, but in Pakistan, senior players can’t digest young players’ success.

He signed off by saying. “I have said this before, and I will say it again, Kohli’s career picked off amazingly because he found MS Dhoni but unfortunately, here in Pakistan, your people cannot stand your success. Our senior players and ex-cricketers cannot digest seeing someone succeed in the cricketing world, which is unfortunate for Pakistan cricket.”
