NED v ENG 2022: WATCH- Netherlands players help ground staff find the ball in bushes after Malan six

The ball got lost in the bushes after Dawid Malan’s huge six in the first ODI.

The first ODI of the three-match series between the Netherlands and England was played at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen on Friday (June 17). Well, the cricket world got to see a typical gully cricket scene during the first innings of the ongoing first ODI in Amstelveen.

After losing the toss, England was asked to bat first and the Netherlands’ Shane Snater gave England an early blow by dismissing the opener for just 1 off 7 balls.

But after Roy’s wicket, Philip Salt (122) and Dawid Malan (125) launched a scathing attack on the Netherlands’ bowlers in Amstelveen, adding 222 runs for the second wicket.

Before their assault, there was a drama that happened during the match and even the game had to stop for some time in Amstelveen.

Actually, in the 9th over, Malan hit Dutch captain Pieter Seelaar for a tremendous six which went over the long-off fielder, and the ball landed into the bushes and disappeared.

The Netherlands fielders and ground staff were seen searching for the ball in the bushes. The Netherlands' Logan van Beek and Tom Cooper, along with the broadcast crew, tried their best to search, but they didn’t manage to find the ball, as it got lost in the bushes.

Notably, England posted the world record total of 498/4 in the 50 overs against the Netherlands, thanks to Salt and Malan’s centuries in the first ODI. However, the crown jewel proved to be Jos Buttler, who slammed 162* in 70 balls with 14 sixes and 7 fours.
