Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh congratulated batter Rahul Tripathi after he earned his maiden call-up to the Indian team for the Ireland T20I tour.
He is also excited about Hardik Pandya’s captaincy in the upcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland, starting on June 26.
The BCCI named a 17-member India squad for the Ireland tour on Wednesday (June 15), and Pandya has been given the opportunity to lead Team India following his successful stint as Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2022.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the star all-rounder’s deputy on the Ireland tour.
Well, Tripathi was waiting for his chance for a long time, and now it has come to an end, and the former spinner said that he was happy for the talented batter, and also felt he deserved to get his chance.
He would also love to see Pandya continuing his brilliant captaincy for Team India as well after he guided GT to a maiden IPL title in their first season.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Harbhajan Singh congratulated the duo by saying: “Congratulations @tripathirahul52 on your maiden call-up! Well deserved. Also, I would love to see @hardikpandya7 continuing his brilliant captaincy for #TeamIndia as well.”
Notably, Tripathi amassed 413 runs at an average of 37.55 in the IPL 2022, and was the second-highest run-scorer for SRH. In his IPL career, the batter has so far scored 1,798 runs at an average of 27.66 with the help of 10 half-centuries and the highest score of 93.
