Shaheen’s alleged statement on Umran recently took the internet by storm.
Recently, Shaheen’s alleged statement on Umran took the internet by storm. The left-arm pacer had opined that speed can’t help a bowler if he doesn't have the line-length and swing.
The remarks became the talk of the town, but Chopra shared a video on his official Twitter account to debunk the claims that it was about Umran Malik, who hogged the headlines in the recently held IPL 2022 with his express pace.
As per the video shared by Aakash Chopra on the micro-blogging site, a reporter asked Shaheen, “You are in the race to become the number 1 bowler. Do you also have in your mind that you throw the fast ball?"
In reply, Shaheen Afridi said: “Speed can’t help you if you don’t have line and length and swing.”
Chopra also called out a social media page and a journalist over 'clickbait and misleading' posts.
"Taken totally out of context. Clickbait and misleading. Hate sells…in all forms. Sports isn’t above that either, it seems. You can do better. You should do better. With huge following comes great responsibility. May be, stick to memes? At least they can be funny sometimes," he wrote in his tweet.
Shaheen Afridi will be seen in action in the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies, starting June 8 in Multan.
On the other hand, Umran Malik has earned his maiden call-up to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa following his exploits in the IPL 2022 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
