Harbhajan had slapped Sreesanth during one of the matches in IPL 2008.
14 years down the line, Harbhajan recently recalled the incident and said that he still regrets about it.
"What happened was wrong. I made a mistake. Because of me, my teammate had to face embarrassment. I was embarrassed," Harbhajan said at Glance LIVE Fest.
"If I had to correct one mistake, it was how I treated Sreesanth on the field. It should not have had happened. When I think about it, I feel there was no need,” he added.
Apparently, Harbhajan had got angry over Sreesanth's aggressive send-off to Mumbai batter in that particular clash. Incidentally, Singh had led MI in that match in the absence of regular skipper Sachin Tendulkar.
After Punjab’s victory, Sreesanth came out of the field and then Harbhajan vented his frustration on the speedster. Although the clip of the entire incident isn’t there, people watched the match did witness a fuming Harbhajan and an emotional Sreesanth breaking down on the TV screen. The event is now popularly known as IPL "slapgate."
For his unruly behaviour, Harbhajan Singh was banned from the rest of the tournament and prohibited from collecting his salary after being found guilty. He was also banned by the BCCI for five ODIs.
