"Such a proud moment"- Daren Sammy says on receiving the Sitara-e-Pakistan award

He shared number of pictures from the award ceremony.

Former West Indies captain Daren Sammy received the civil award "Sitara-e-Pakistan" for his invaluable contribution to reviving international cricket in Pakistan on May 30.

He captained Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one season and is currently the head coach of the franchise.

President of Pakistan on August 14 last year, which is Pakistan's Independence Day, announced that the former West Indies captain will be bestowed with the civil honor of the Sitara-e-Pakistan award.

However, he has now received the award on Monday.

While expressing his love for Pakistan while receiving the honor, Sammy said: “Pakistan is like home to me and this is an honor for me. I am very proud.”

He also shared a number of pictures of himself receiving the award on his social media handles.

On one of the Twitter posts, Sammy captioned it by saying, along with a couple of pictures from the ceremony: There it is... me collecting the Sitara-e-Pakistan award. Such a proud moment.”

Sharing a series of pictures on Instagram, Sammy wrote: “Cricket took me all over the world enabling me to see and play in some amazing places. Pakistan is definitely one of these places. A place that always makes me feel at home. It’s such an honor to have received this prestigious award (Sitara-e-Pakistan) from the government and people of Pakistan.
