Umran Malik gets congratulated by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on his Team India selection

Umran Malik bowled the fastest ball in the IPL 2022 league stage at 157 kph.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently met star pacer Umran Malik and congratulated him after he was selected in the Team India squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, starting on June 9.

Malik was named in the 18-man India squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series to be played from June 9 to 19 against South Africa at home.

He was handed his maiden call-up to the Indian team after his stunning performance for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2022. He scalped 21 wickets in 13 matches for SRH in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sinha congratulated Umran for his India selection and thanked the young cricketer’s family and his parents for their sacrifices to make his and J&K’s name in competitive cricket.

The Lt Governor further said that Umran has brought pride and glory to Jammu and Kashmir and urged the youngsters to follow in his footsteps to bring more laurels to the valley.

According to India Today, Mr. Sinha stated: “As a sporting genius and a global sporting icon, Umran will continue to inspire our youth not only in sports but also in other areas of human endeavor.”

He signed off by saying, “Jammu and Kashmir has the potential to achieve excellence in international sporting events and the administration is committed to popularising a robust sports culture among children and the youth. I call upon our youth to develop a strong winner's instinct.”
