Khawaja dropped Rizwan at 91 with three overs left.
The recently concluded second Test between Pakistan and Australia in Karachi went down the wire and gave fans everything to cheer about. Both the sides fought tooth and nail but in the end the match ended in a draw and the series remained in a stalemate at 0-0.
Coming into Day 5, Australia needed 8 wickets while Pakistan was 314 runs away from the victory. Skipper Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique resumed the proceedings for their side. However, Pat Cummins removed the latter for 96 and then followed it up with the wicket of Fawad Alam for 9 runs.
After that, Azam and Rizwan stitched 115 runs partnership and it almost seemed that the visitors would find it difficult to win. But Nathan Lyon removed Babar Azam (196) and Faheem Ashraf in the two successive deliveries and a few overs later also removed Sajid Khan to tilt the match in his side’s favour.

With three more wickets needed to win, the Pat Cummins-led side was about to inch one step closer to the victory. But Usman Khawaja dropped a sitter while fielding at cover region and gave well-set Mohammad Rizwan a life.
The wicketkeeper-batter was batting on 91 at that time with tailenders and if the opportunity was taken it could’ve given Australia a fair chance to win the match. Rizwan went on to score unbeaten 104 runs and helped his side draw the match.
As Khawaja dropped the catch, fans on Twitter poked fun at him and related the missed chance with his Pakistan roots.
