Shreyas Iyer jumps to 18th spot; Virat Kohli out of top 10 in latest update of ICC T20I rankings

Rohit Sharma also dropped down 2 spots to 13th position in T20I batting rankings.

Indian team batter Shreyas Iyer has seen a massive jump in the latest update of the ICC T20I rankings, moving 27 spots to the 18^th position on March 2, 2022. This was after his terrific batting performance in the recent three-match T20Is against Sri Lanka.

Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten throughout the series, making 204 runs at a strike rate of 174, and was named the Player of the Series for his efforts, as he scored three half-centuries in three matches, all unbeaten.  

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli fell out of the top 10 rankings, as he was rested for the Sri Lanka T20I series. India captain Rohit Sharma dropped two spots to 13th on the rankings after managing just 50 runs from three knocks against Sri Lanka.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar jumped three spots to 17^th in the T20I bowler rankings.

Apart from this, Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka scored an impressive 75 in the second game of the series and he was rewarded with a six-spot rise to ninth on the rankings. Sri Lanka's Lahiru Kumara's five wickets in the series with India have lifted him into the top 40 bowlers for the first time.

The biggest mover on the Test rankings was South African quick Kagiso Rabada, who shot up three places to third, after taking 10 wickets in the two Tests against New Zealand. He picked 5/60 in the first innings of the second Test helping the Proteas on their way to an important 198-run triumph.

The kiwi duo of Kyle Jamieson (dropped two spots to fifth) and Tim Southee (dropped one spot to sixth) lost ground in the bowler rankings, with Australia captain Pat Cummins and India veteran R Ashwin still leading the way.

Marnus Labuschagne remains the no.1 ranked Test batter, while New Zealander Devon Conway jumps six places to 17th following his 92 in the second innings of the second Test against South Africa.

In the ODIs, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan re-claimed his spot in the top 10 for bowlers following five wickets from the recent three-game series against Bangladesh. He moved to the 9^th spot in the rankings.

Trent Boult remained the top-ranked ODI bowler, while Pakistan right-hander Babar Azam led the way for batters.
