Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja recently opened up about the constant comparisons between IPL and PSL. He believes that the Indian tournament is the strongest in the world and has no competition with any other leagues.
Indian Premier League (IPL) vs Pakistan Super League (PSL) debate has become the never-ending topic of discussion. Over the years many fans and pundits have had their different opinions on the same.
While many have called IPL the world’s best league, few also remarked that several aspects including tournament duration, high-quality players and many more make PSL better than other T20 leagues across the globe. Fans of both the countries also have many a time taken a jibe at each other about the same.
Australian batter Usman Khawaja feels that IPL is the “strongest in the world” and there’s no contest with PSL. He believes that being the only league with Indian players in it makes IPL the best in the world.
"IPL is the strongest in the world. That's hands down. That's not really a contest there (between IPL and PSL) because at the end of the day they have all the world come to them and they also have the only league in the world that has Indian cricketers. So, it ends up becoming the best league in the world," Usman Khawaja said.
Usman Khawaja, who is currently in Pakistan for the Test series, said that playing in his hometown is special for him and he always wanted to do that. He admitted that although there’s a sentiment playing in his home, but when he’ll don Australian colours he will be focused on making his team win.
"The fact that I'm playing in Pakistan is special, don't get me wrong, it's very special. It's something I've always wanted to do. I grew up down the road. There is that bit of sentiment definitely, but once the game starts you don't really think about that stuff," he said.
Usman Khawaja will be next seen in action when Australia takes on Pakistan in the first Test match on 4th March in Rawalpindi. Notably, this is Australia’s first tour to the Asian nation since 1998.
