Mohammed Azharuddin assures Noel David of HCA taking care of his medical expenses

Mohammed Azharuddin, the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) met with former India player Noel David and has assured him that the state association of taking care of his medical expenses.

Noel David, 51, played four ODIs for India in 1997 against West Indies and Sri Lanka. He also played 35 First-Class and 48 List-A matches from 1992-2002 for Hyderabad. He picked 51 FC wickets and 36 List-A scalps. He scored 2 centuries in his 1379 runs in FC matches with the best score of 207*.

He had been suffering from a kidney ailment for the last few years and underwent surgery on Wednesday.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association released a statement saying that Azharuddin met David and assured him that the association will bear the expenses of his medical treatment including the kidney transplant surgery.

"Today, Mohammed Azharuddin, President - Hyderabad Cricket Association met Noel David at Apollo Hospital. Noel is recuperating after undergoing a kidney transplant surgery this month in Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills. The visit could not have happened earlier because Noel had to be kept in a sterile environment post-surgery. Mohammed Azharuddin met Dr. Subramanyam, Nephrologist, and enquired about the surgery and post-operative care,” a media statement issued by the HCA said.

"In a meeting with Tejaswi Rao, COO of Apollo Jubilee Hills, Azharuddin reiterated that HCA will meet the cost of Noel's surgery and promised help for Noel to meet his personal expenses,” the statement said.

After retirement, David became the chief selector of the Hyderabad state team and chairman of the Junior Selection Committee.
