As the Yash Dhull-led India U19 cricket team was gearing up for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 final against England, Priyam Garg and Yashasvi Jaiswal backed the young boys to bring the cup back home again. India last won the ICC U-19 World Cup title in 2018 under Prithvi Shaw.

Notably, Garg and Yashasvi were part of the U-19 World Cup 2020 campaign, where they finished as runners-up, losing the trophy to Bangladesh. India is the most successful team in Under-19 World Cup history, making 8 finals and winning the trophy four times, an envious record.

India is aiming for a record fifth title when they face England in the grand finale of the Under-19 World Cup 2022 on Saturday, February 5, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Jaiswal told Times of India in an exclusive interview: “They have been doing amazing and playing amazing cricket. I am sure they will bring the cup home. I am sure India will beat England and win the World Cup. I want to wish every Indian player the very best, give their 100 percent, and win the trophy. It's the title clash. They have played superbly and entered the final. They have to overcome one more obstacle and the title will be ours. The team needs to focus on every ball, focus on the process. They are capable of doing that because they have been amazing in the tournament. I am supporting this team with all my heart and I am confident that they will win the final.”

Hailing Yash Dhull, the young batter said: “Yash (Dhull) has been phenomenal. Rasheed laid a solid foundation and platform for everyone. It was a wonderful partnership between the two against a top team like Australia. A final hurdle is left. I am sure the boys will cross it with ease.”

Meanwhile, Priyam is also confident that Dhull will join the likes of Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, and Prithvi Shaw by winning the 2022 edition of the U19 World Cup.

Priyam Garg told Times of India: “I am sure India will bring the Cup home. We will see the fifth title for India at the Under19 World Cup. They should be playing the way they have been and should not take any pressure. India will be favorites against England.”

He concluded, “Yash has batted brilliantly in the tournament. His 100 was crucial in the last match (vs Australia in the semis) and Rasheed was just amazing. He is a talented batsman. Yash will once again play a crucial role in the final. I am confident and 200 percent sure that the cup is coming home.”
