South Africa’s U-19 batter Dewald Brevis is the talk of the town these days after his exploits in the ongoing U-19 World Cup 2022 in West Indies.

Brevis' batting style is very similar to Proteas legend AB de Villiers. His jaw-dropping strokes have already gone viral on social media and experts believe he is an upcoming star.

Famously known as 'Baby AB', the 18-year-old has gone on to break an all-time record in the tournament that was previously held by India's Shikhar Dhawan.

On Friday (February 3), Brevis slammed 138 off 130 balls against Bangladesh in the 7th place playoff match in the U-19 World Cup and he now owns the record of most runs in a single edition of the Youth World Cup.

Dewald Brevis has amassed a total of 506 runs in the 2022 edition of the U-19 World Cup, surpassing Dhawan's tally of 505 runs in the 2004 edition.

The teenage sensation is also one of the South African players to have been shortlisted for the IPL 2022 mega auction, scheduled for February 12 and 13.

In fact, Brevis recently expressed his desire to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Indian Premier League.

“For me, the biggest dream is to play for the Proteas and then I am such a big fan of the IPL, I would love to play for RCB because AB (de Villiers) and (Virat) Kohli are there,” said Brevis in a video posted on the official website of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
