India U19 team captain Yash Dhull’s father Vijay Dhull said that everyone is happy with the team's performance against Bangladesh U19 in the quarter-final of the ongoing ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022 in the Caribbean. He also talked about his son’s batting style.

India U19 qualified for the semi-final after they defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the quarterfinal. Bowling first, after winning the toss, the Yash Dhull-led side displayed a sensational bowling performance to bundle out the opposition inside 38 overs and restricted them to just 111 runs.

Even though they lost 5 wickets in the chase, vital contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi (40), Shaik Rasheed (26), and Yash Dhull (20*) helped them chase the target inside 31 overs and book a place in the semi-final.

Speaking to ANI, Yash Dhull’s father Vijay Dhull was pleased with India's performance against Bangladesh in the quarterfinal of U19 Cricket World Cup 2022. He said that although it was a pressure game, the team played very positively.

"Very happy with the way boys performed. We saw the entire match. No doubt it was a pressure game. Last time we lost to Bangladesh in the final and that was playing in the mind of the boys and they took it in a very positive way and performed well," Vijay Dhull said.

Vijay said that Yash Dhull plays his own style of game as he doesn’t look at match situations and plays the ball on its merit.

"We have seen this from a very young age that he plays his own style of game. If you look at the match situation the players would have taken single or double but he plays the ball on its merit and finishes off the game quickly," he said.

Yash Dhull tested positive for COVID-19 recently and missed the games against Ireland and Uganda.

While talking about the same, Vijay Dhull said that it was very tough for the young lad as it’s not easy to stay alone in isolation. He added that Yash along with teammates, who tested positive for COVID-19, gave their 100 percent to recover for the quarterfinal.

"It was very tough for Yash Dhull and we used to talk to him every morning and evening and physically he was looking just fine but we just told him to be positive because you just have to rest.

“It is not easy to stay alone for ten days in isolation but he stayed positive and his trainer helped him a lot. So, he did not feel any problem. His teammates too like Rashid I saw were giving their 100 percent," he said.

Yash Dhull further said that the Indian U19 team has performed well so far and is taking less pressure, which is good. He hoped the Yash Dhull-led side to do well in upcoming matches.

"All the teams who have reached this far have done very well. The boys have also gone there to perform. They are taking less pressure which is good and we hope that they do well in the upcoming matches," he said.

India U19 will now face Australia U19 in the semi-final on Wednesday, February 2.
