The allrounder sustained a lower back injury and is likely to miss the IPL 2022 and County
England all-rounder Tom Curran will miss the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2022, and the first 2 months of English county cricket after sustaining a lower back injury.
After playing 4 games, Curran had to leave the BBL 11 season due to a “troublesome hotspot in his back”, according to his team Sydney Sixers. After returning to London, the scans confirmed that the player had suffered a stress fracture.
Curran’s county, Surrey, released a statement confirming the player’s injury on Monday. "He will now undergo rehabilitation at The Kia Oval under the guidance of Surrey's medical staff," the club said.
Curran had been playing in the IPL since 2018. He has represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals in the tournament.

Curran was not selected for England’s upcoming West Indies tour which starts on 22nd January and Surrey said that they estimated he would “not return to cricket before the start of the Vitality Blast”, which starts on May 25th.
Sam Curran, Tom’s younger brother, has also been out of action due to similar injury issues because of which he had to miss both the T20 World Cup 2021 as well as The Ashes 2021-22.
Sam has been rehabilitating over the winters and was also seen in his first net session at Oval since his diagnosis on Monday. Jofra Archer is another England’s injured player rehabilitating in Barbados.
Archer posted a video of himself batting in the nets on Instagram on Monday, where he was seen facing Chris Jordan and Nico Reifer.
