Sri Lanka batter Danushka Gunathilaka has announced his retirement from Test cricket at the age of 30. The left-hander decided to focus more on his white-ball career as confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Danushka Gunathilaka played eight Test matches for Sri Lanka, in which he amassed 299 runs at an underwhelming average of 18.7. He also had two half-centuries to his name with a best of 61.
Notably, he was handed a one-year suspension, which was lifted yesterday, by SLC for breaching COVID-19 protocols in England last year along with Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella.

Gunathilaka’s retirement came days after his teammate Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 30, called time on his international career, stating familial obligations for his decision.
Danushka Gunathilaka has a decent white-ball record. In 44 ODIs, the southpaw has scored 1520 runs at an average of 36.19, while in 30 T20Is so far, he has 568 runs at a strike rate of 121.62.
He recently scored a half-century in the final of the Lankan Premier League and will now be available for selection for ODIs and T20Is for the national side after SLC lifted the ban imposed on him.
