Morkel made his Test debut in Durban in 2006 vs India.
Tendulkar enjoyed a good record in South Africa, starting with a brilliant 111 in Johannesburg in 1992, followed by an equally impressive 169 at Cape Town in 1996. He then scored 155 in Johannesburg in 2001, and though he went without a Test century in the 2006-07 series, he came back strongly in 2010 to score two centuries in what was his final tour of the rainbow nation.
Morkel, who made his debut in 2006, finished his career as one of the greatest Proteas bowlers, with 309 Test wickets in 86 matches and 188 ODI wickets in 117 matches. He also took 47 wickets in 44 T20I matches.

Talking about bowling to Tendulkar on his Test debut, Morkel said on Star Sports' Cricket Live show, "I'll tell you what. When I made by debut in 2006… I bowled my first over to Sachin. I remember Polly (Shaun Pollock) gave me the ball and I felt paralyzed. I thought ok ‘I am going to have to bowl this ball. To play against him in 2010… it was a Test match where on Day 1, there was a lot of rain. We managed to bowl India for 130 or so."
Morkel then spoke about bowling to Tendulkar in the 2010 series and said that he was more confident this time around, but the genius of Sachin he saw was still fresh in his mind like it was yesterday.
"Conditions got better for batting later on but just the way he went about his trade in that second innings was fantastic to see. It was a big bat to bowl to. The bat felt very wide. It was sort of plan we threw at him and ye he had an answer for. It was a special memory for me," Morkel added.
