England was bundled out for 147 runs in their first innings.
Former captain Kevin Pietersen urged fans to not blame the Joe Root-led England side for their poor outing on the first two days of the ongoing first Test in Gabba in the Ashes 2021-22.
England didn’t have the kind of start they would’ve wanted in the Ashes 2021-22 as they were dominated by Australia on the first two days of the ongoing first Test match.
Batting first, after winning the toss, England had a horrendous start as they lost Rory Burns on the very first ball of the match. The visitors then failed to get going as Australian skipper Pat Cummins led from the front and took a five-wicket haul to bundle out hosts for just 147 runs in the first innings.

England did have a good start with the ball as they removed Marcus Harris early but the duo of David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne stitched a 155-run partnership to put visitors in all sorts of trouble.
As Marnus Labuschagne fell for 74 runs, England didn’t let other batters settle and sent half of the Australian side back in the hut for the score of 195 runs. However, Travis Head attacked English bowlers, smashing his third Test ton in just 85 balls to put his team in a commanding position.
The visitors were sloppy in the field as they dropped many catches and also bowled a host of no-balls to only hurt their chances in the match further.
Taking to his official Twitter account, former cricketer Kevin Pietersen urged English fans to not blame the players and instead asked for the system to be fixed.
"Don’t blame the players, fix the system!" Kevin Pietersen tweeted.
After England was bundled out 147 runs in the first innings, Kevin Pietersen then also lashed out at the English county system, saying that the system is "completely flawed" and will not produce quality batters.
"147 all out. Please don’t blame the players for not being good enough. The county system is completely flawed & WILL NOT produce enough tough & high-quality batters. I’ve said this for years now - TOO MANY COUNTIES!" Pietersen had Tweeted.
