PSL 2022: Shahid Afridi traded to Quetta Gladiators for his farewell season

PSL 2022 will begin from 7th January in Karachi.

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi will play for Quetta Gladiators in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022), which will be his farewell season as well.

Multan Sultans traded the veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi and English batter James Vince to Quetta Gladiators, giving sultans two extra picks (Diamond and Silver round) at the upcoming PSL 2022 Draft.

Taking about joining Quetta Gladiators, Shahid Afridi said that he’s excited to join the franchise and his dream is to lift the trophy with the team in his last PSL event. 

"I am excited to join Quetta Gladiators, a side that has had a roller-coaster ride in the past few events despite winning the title in 2019. In my final HBL PSL event, it will my dream and wish to sign off with another HBL PSL trophy after tasting success with Peshawar Zalmi in 2017," Shahid Afridi said in a PCB statement.

Afridi while mentioning that PSL is an event that encourages players to give their best and also said that he will give his all to put up a performance that can help his team achieve their objectives. 

"HBL PSL is an event that encourages and inspires a player to give his very best. I will use the same motivation to help my team and put up performances that can help us achieve our event objectives," he said. 

The deadline to submit the list of all retained and released players is on 10th November. All six PSL franchises can retain a maximum of 8 players. The draft for the PSL 2022 will be held at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore on Sunday (12th December). 

The seventh edition of the PSL is scheduled to kick start from 7th January in Karachi with the summit clash set to take place on 27th February in Lahore.
