Tim Paine recently resigned as Australia Test captain after allegations of unsolicited explicit images sent to a female colleague back in 2017. He had sent the explicit messages on the eve and morning of the first Test of the Ashes in 2017 when he made a comeback to the Test side.

Cricket Australia (CA) has started investigations into the allegations made against Paine. But Australia batter David Warner's wife Candice is not pleased with Cricket Australia's way of handling the situation.

Candice expressed concerns over CA's stance and said, "They're (Cricket Australia) basically saying that it's not OK for an Australian cricket captain to send these messages, but it's OK for an Australian player. As a wife of an Australian player, that is slightly concerning and it does make me worry."

Usually, the English fan group, Barmy Army never let go of such opportunities to rile up the cricketers during Ashes. Candice said her husband David used to cope up with them very well, but she has no idea how Paine would deal with the situation on the field.

"I don't know how Tim Paine will handle it, or if he will have to handle it. But in regard to David and myself, you've got to look at it in a certain way.

"I know David looks at it as, 'If they're singing about me, they're worried about me.' So David uses it as a fuel to fire him up and get going. It is how you want to take it. It can affect people," she said on 2GB Radio.

After Paine decided to quit Test captaincy, Cricket Australia chairman Richard Freudenstein, in a statement, said, “Tim felt it was in the best interests of his family and Australian cricket to take this decision to step down as captain.

“The Board has accepted Tim’s resignation and will now work through a process with the National Selection Panel of identifying and appointing a new captain.”
