Sachin Tendulkar visited Madhya Pradesh villages on 8th anniversary of his retirement from cricket.
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, on Tuesday (November 16), paid a surprise visit to Seva Kutir in Sewaniya village of Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of his retirement from international cricket back in 2013.
From the Indore airport, Tendulkar drove to Sehore, receiving a warm welcome en route to the village. After reaching the "Seva Kutir" in Sevania, he interacted with the children, villagers, and young teachers at the center.
As part of his visit, Tendulkar also visited Sister Nivedita School and Hostel that his foundation is building, as well as Shri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Seva Kutir, where education is provided to children in the age group of 4 to 14 in the tribal areas of the state.
He also visited the Budhni village in Sehore, the home district of MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
He reportedly announced that he would provide financial aid to educate as many as 650 children in the village. It is being said that children in the tribal areas of Sevania, Beelpati, Khapa, Nayapura, and Jamun Jheel in Sihore district are getting food and education with the help of the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation.
Tendulkar’s foundation is helping Seva Kutir school in Sehore and is also constructing a school and hostel in Dewas in memory of his late father, Professor Ramesh Tendulkar, in association with an NGO, namely "Parivaar Education Society" in Sandalpur village of Dewas district in Madhya Pradesh.
He also shared a few pictures from his visit on Twitter by saying: “Always a privilege to play for #TeamIndia - on the field or off it. Was satisfying to visit our seva kutirs & free residential school we are building with Parivaar. Our children can make this world better & brighter. We just have to ensure all of them get equal opportunities.”
Notably, Parivaar, an NGO that Tendulkar’s foundation supports, is running Sewa Kutir in 42 villages of the district, out of which 704 children from five tribal villages have been adopted by Sachin Tendulkar Foundation. It runs a day boarding education-cum-meal program for the tribal children.
Tendulkar, in association with Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Seva Kutir Voluntary Organization, is working towards educating tribal children and making them successful in life in the state.
He told ANI: “It is a great pleasure to come to Sandalpur and Sewaniya. We are helping to build a school and hostel in Sandalpur, about 2,300 students will be able to live and study here over a span of 10 years. The people of the Parivaar Education Society will help the children and shape their careers. At this stage they need guidance. Children aged between 4 and 16 years will be given proper guidance.”
Tendulkar concluded, “Apart from this, there will be arrangements for food with a proper nutrition plan. They are the future of the country. India is the youngest average-aged nation. It is our strength and we need to utilize it in a proper way to see good results in the forthcoming years.”
