Bangladesh batter Tamim Iqbal has been reportedly ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan at home because of a thumb injury.

Bangladesh is scheduled to host Pakistan in a three-match T20I series on November 19, 20, and 22 in Dhaka, as well as a two-match Test series from November 26-30 in Chattogram, with the second and final Test from December 4-8 in Dhaka.

According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, an X-ray report revealed that Tamim had a fracture on his left thumb, which he injured during a franchise Twenty20 match in Kathmandu last month.

Tamim stated:The fracture had almost healed but my thumb remained swollen. So we wanted to have another X-ray, which revealed that there was a fracture. Probably there were two, but it didn’t come out in the first scan … I can’t move it. The whole process has to start again.”

The batter had recently opted out of the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, citing a lack of game time due to his recovery from a knee injury. Bangladesh was knocked out in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE.
