Ravi Shastri’s tenure as India’s head coach ended with the team's T20 World Cup campaign.
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri opened up about his future, saying that he would definitely want to coach a franchise in the IPL if he gets an opportunity.
Ravi Shastri’s tenure as an Indian head coach came to an end following India’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Over his tenure of four years, he helped Team India achieve new heights.
Under him the Virat Kohli-led side became one of the most consistent sides in all three formats of the game, winning series both at home as well as in away conditions.

With this tenure ending as an Indian head coach, it was reported that new IPL franchise Ahmedabad is set to rope Ravi Shastri as their coach in the next edition of the cash-rich league.
In an interaction with NDTV, Ravi Shastri said that if he gets an opportunity to coach an IPL franchise he will definitely do it. He admitted that it would be a great challenge for him and he relish challenges.
"If I get the opportunity, I will definitely do it. There are no two ways about that. It will be a great experience. Something I have not tried and I relish challenges. I will go in that direction, for sure," Ravi Shastri said.
Shastri remarked that like his career so far, his future will also be connected to cricket. He assuredly said that while the media landscape has changed immensely in the last two decades, he has enough in him to still fit in.
"The sporting fraternity, since I left the game and went to broadcasting for 23 years, has opened up that massively, five fingers will not fit, you need ten. But I am good enough with five and it will be everything connected to cricket because whatever I am, it is because of the game and in many ways, the BCCI because they are the custodians of the sport in India. But the media space is exploding and I think I fit in there,” he said.
Under Shastri’s tenure, Team India reached the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and ended as runners-up in the ICC World Test Championship 2021.
