Sheldon Jackson’s 79* helps Saurashtra beat Delhi in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament

This was Sheldon Jackson's third fifty in three matches for Saurashtra in ongoing SMAT 2021.

Saurashtra batter-keeper Sheldon Jackson’s blistering good form helped his team beat Delhi in the most recent encounter of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in Rohtak on November 9, 2021.

Sheldon Jackson slammed 79* in 47 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes as Saurashtra put up 166/6 in 20 overs. Chirag Jani also made 42 runs as well. Though Delhi’s Dhruv Shorey and Anuj Rawat made 30 odd runs, they could only manage 153/5 in 20 overs with Kushang Patel taking 2/35 and lost the match by 13 runs.

In fact, Sheldon Jackson has been in very good form with the bat for Saurashtra, having made half-centuries in Saurashtra’s previous two matches as well, against Uttarakhand and Chandigarh respectively.

Jackson made a valuable 62* with 5 fours and 3 sixes against Uttarakhand and along with Prerak Mankad’s 47, helped Saurashtra to 146/3. Though Robin Bist made 46*, Uttarakhand lost the match by 2 runs only.

Sheldon then made merry in a run-fest against Chandigarh as he made 70 in 40 balls with 5 sixes and 4 fours, adding 104 runs with Arpit Vasavada (72) as Saurashtra made 209/4 in 20 overs. Then thanks to five wickets in between Chetan Sakariya and Jaydev Unadkat helped them beat Chandigarh by 42 runs.

Thus far, Sheldon Jackson has made 221 runs in 5 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament with 3 half-centuries at an average of 73.66 with a strike rate of 149.32. He has hit 22 fours and 10 sixes as well.
