Maxwell is currently playing in the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell on November 8 said that he is uncertain about his participation in the team’s upcoming tour of Pakistan in March-April next year, as he and his fiancée Vini Raman plan to have their wedding during the same time.
Australia is slated to play three Tests, as many ODIs and a one-off T20I in Pakistan from March 29-April 5, 2022 but the tour is subjected to the security approval of a Cricket Australia delegation that will travel to Pakistan later this year to monitor the arrangements before giving the final nod to the tour.
The Aussie all-rounder got engaged to Raman last March, but the couple has been forced to postpone their wedding multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maxwell told reporters, “I think it’s great that we’ve got a tour to go back there. I think I saw it was 1998 the last time we went there. Whether I’m going there or not might probably hinge on my fiancée because my wedding is supposed to be on during that time. So I’m probably not quite the right person to ask that question.”
On being asked whether his fiancée might consider postponing the wedding again, the cricketer said: “Not a chance. We’ve already moved it a couple of times so I think this is it.”
Meanwhile, Maxwell was in great form for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the recently concluded IPL 2021 but is yet to replicate his form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.
Speaking on his form, the all-rounder said: “I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but I’ve got two not-outs back-to-back which is pretty rare in my career. It means the top order is going really well if I’m not spending that much time out there. I’ve been in a really good head-space so hopefully (I’m) not required again or hopefully required for another zero not out and just stay at the other end.”
