India’s 2011 World Cup win hero Yuvraj Singh, on Tuesday (November 2), left the cricket world surprised with a shocking announcement that he'll come out of his retirement and aims to be back on the pitch in February next year.

In a surprising development, the two-time World Cup winner has announced that he announced his comeback to the cricket field in February 2022 in a late-night Instagram post.

Notably, Yuvraj called time on his 17-year international career in 2019 and went on to play for T20 franchises overseas. He was considered one of India’s prolific all-rounders during his playing days.

The southpaw played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, and scored over 11,000 runs with 17 centuries and 71 half-centuries apart from taking 148 wickets with 2 four-wicket hauls and 1 five-wicket haul.

The left-hander last played for India on June 30, 2017, in the ODI against the West Indies at North Sound.

On Tuesday, Yuvraj shared a video of his knock from an ODI match in 2017, where he scored 150 off 127 balls with the help of 21 fours and three sixes – his highest ODI score – as well as stitched a 256-run stand with MS Dhoni (134) against England in Cuttack. The Indian team won that game by 15 runs.

In the clip, the song "Teri Mitti" from the movie Kesari was playing in the background, as the all-rounder announced his decision of coming back to cricket once again by saying the almighty decides a person’s destiny.

He also urged fans to keep supporting the Indian team, which is currently struggling at the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 having lost games against Pakistan and New Zealand.

Yuvraj captioned the post by saying: “God decides your destiny !!On public demand il be back on the pitch hopefully in February ! Ain’t nothing like this feeling ! Thank you for your love and wishes mean a lot to me ! Keep supporting India,  it’s our team and a true fan will show his or her support in tough times.”
