Virat Kohli foundation inaugurates trauma and rehab center for stray animals; credits Anushka Sharma

India cricket captain Virat Kohli’s “Virat Kohli Foundation” has on Tuesday (September 14) inaugurated a trauma and rehab center for stray animals at Madh, Malad in Mumbai. Earlier this year, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had announced that he was setting up two animal care facilities in Mumbai.

On Tuesday, September 14, the foundation revealed that the Malad Trauma and Rehab center in association with Vivaldi's Animal Health and Awaaz Voice of Stray Animals and the center is now fully operational and will treat injured stray animals and provide them with medical support in the area.

Kohli took to Twitter to announce the same by sharing a short clip on his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

He wrote on Twitter, “We are proud to announce that after months of hard work, our Trauma & Rehab Centre for Stray Animals in association with Vivaldis & Awaaz is now ready for operations. The Malad centre will treat injured stray animals & provide them with medical support.”

The Indian skipper has further credited his wife Anushka Sharma for making him see the difficulties faced by stray animals and inspiring him to help stray animals in the city.

The Bollywood actress has been constantly seen supporting animal welfare and animal rights and even the couple strongly advocates for animal rights in recent years. Now having been inspired by Anushka’s passion for animals, Kohli is helping stray animals through his foundation.

Kohli said in a statement, “I admire Anushka’s dedication towards the welfare of animals, and I have drawn my inspiration from her. It is our dream to create a safer space for the stray animals of our city. We are excited to announce that the center is ready, and hope to make a difference through this noble initiative.”

Meanwhile, Meanwhile, Vivaldi's Animal Health founder and CEO Kunal Khanna said, “We announced our association with the Virat Kohli Foundation and Awaaz earlier on April 21 and the entire team has worked tirelessly to ensure we are ready with our first Trauma and Rehab center just five months later. I am extremely grateful to Anushka and Virat for their steadfast support to stray animals, as we continue to build on our association, with many more initiatives in time to come.

He concluded, “Vivaldi's is committed to continuous innovation in the field of pet healthcare while working towards building safe spaces for the not so privileged stray animals.”

Noteworthy, the center will treat injured stray animals in the area and a team of 10 experts will be in charge of running the operation. A fully-equipped Ambulance will be available at the center for emergency calls. They will also give medical support to the stray animals at the center.
